Overview

We are seeking an exceptional Head of Performance to build and lead a high-caliber Performance function at a fast-scaling company. This role is central to creating a high-performance culture, ensuring fair, transparent, and effective evaluation and reward systems across the organisation.

You will design and operate the entire performance management system, define incentive structures that motivate excellence, and act as the quality assurance arm for KPIs, ensuring all teams are aligned to clear, measurable outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

1. Build and Run the Performance System

  • Maintain and evolve the performance evaluation framework

  • Design and operate performance review cycles

  • Define and document end-to-end processes and tooling for reviews and feedback collection

  • Ensure the timely execution of cycles, chasing inputs and preparing reports for leadership

  • Analyse qualitative and quantitative feedback data to identify trends and support decision-making

2. Develop and Oversee Incentive Structures

  • Design and manage equity bonus systems and performance-based rewards

  • Maintain salary benchmarks

  • Define and refine promotion, raise, and termination policies

  • Ensure resource allocation and compensation systems are aligned with recognizing and retaining top talent

3. Act as Quality Assurance for KPIs

  • Ensure every team sets and maintains clear, measurable KPIs

  • Review and validate KPIs for clarity, relevance, and rigor

  • Track and monitor attainment of KPIs to surface gaps and opportunities

  • Provide guidance and training to teams on setting high-quality performance indicators

Your Team’s Mission

The Performance team is a cross-functional operations unit dedicated to driving a culture of excellence.

  • Builds scalable systems for continuous performance evaluation

  • Defines incentives to motivate and reward top contributors

  • Acts as the control function ensuring KPIs are reliable, fair, and used effectively

Job requirements

Profile

  • 6–10 years’ experience in operational roles at scale-ups or top-tier consulting firms

  • A strong operator and problem-solver who combines strategic thinking with the ability to execute independently

  • Hands-on leadership style, comfortable doing the work, not just overseeing it

  • Proven ability to manage and develop a team

  • Deep understanding of performance systems, incentive structures, and KPI frameworks

Ideal Background

  • Previous roles in business operations, organizational design, or performance & strategy

  • Experience managing company wide review or OKR systems

  • Solid analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex performance data

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to align stakeholders across functions
