The Compliance Manager is responsible to manage and guide the Compliance Team together with Head of Compliance. He/She is responsible for ensuring the company is conducting its business in full compliance with all respective legislation and related rules and regulations. This will involve the creation, review and implementation of policies and procedures and best practices within the industry.


  • Assist the Head of Compliance with the general day-to-day duties and the managing of the Compliance Department
  • Act as designated MLRO on the absence of the latter
  • Coach the Compliance team in the line of their duties and assist with staff regulatory training on an ongoing basis including vetting client profiles, ensuring all MIFID and AML/CFT regulatory requirements and CC standards are met
  • Provide guidance and advice on legal and regulatory matters to various business lines including settlements of deceased estates and contractual agreements
  • Ensure legal and regulatory documents are in line at all times with current directives and regulations
  • Vetting of policies and legal documents, ensuring all regulatory requirements are satisfied
  • Actively participate in the obligations of the Compliance Monitoring Programme of various licensed entities and drawing up the necessary reports in a timely manner and take an active role in the compliance reporting
  • Screen customer complaints and provide legal support in complaints handling procedures
  • Engage in continuous knowledge development regarding changes in rules and regulations
  • Accept regulatory approved appointments in line with the business requirements
  • Other duties as assigned by the Head of Compliance from time to time

Requirements

Knowledge, Experience & Education Requirements

  • The ideal candidate should demonstrate an understanding of the investment services business and related conduct of business rules.
  • A degree in finance/legal studies and/or a post graduate qualification in compliance and AML
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a management role in a regulated financial services entity or with the local regulatory body
  • Preference will be given to qualified candidates with industry experience
  • Excellent written and oral skills in English
  • Able to analyse situations for compliance and business risk, and implement solutions to address and mitigate such risk
  • Possess a high morale character and professional integrity
  • Meticulous attention to detail and highly accurate
  • Holds good leadership skills

Skills Requirements

  • Excellent written and oral skills in English is mandatory while preference will be given to candidates who also possess excellent written and oral skills in Maltese.
  • Able to analyse situations for compliance and business risk, and implement solutions to address and mitigate such risk
  • Possess a high morale character and professional integrity
  • Meticulous attention to detail and highly accurate
  • Holds good leadership skills
