Head of Operations

Job description


The Head of Operations plays a key role within the Calamatta Cuschieri Group. Main responsibilities include ensuring the Operations team operates efficiently and with minimal disruption, optimising processes and ensuring that all procedures are adequately documented and followed at all times whilst the departmental staff complement is well-trained.


  • Overall responsibility for managing the day-to-day requirements of the operations team focused on 3 key areas:

      Bank and securities Reconciliations (clients’ monies + clients’ assets)     

      Banking, Payments & Settlements

      Corporate Actions

  • Problem solving and escalation of daily issues which may impact the service delivery in any of the above areas
  • Establishing, maintaining and providing regular reporting on suitable Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) across the various areas of responsibility
  • Working closely with internal stakeholders across the Company to obtain feedback and keep abreast of overall operations deliverables whilst also identifying opportunities to drive the business processes forward
  • Coaching and provide necessary training to team members on an on-going basis
  • Taking a leading role with regards to strategic operational direction
  • Ensuring Standard Operating Procedures within the respective teams are always updated and relevant to current processes
  • Working closely with Chief Operating Officer to ensure the teams are operating effectively and efficiently at all times and can meet the demands of the various entities in contact with the department/s

Requirements

Experience & Education Requirements

  • Be an ACCA graduate or at least possess an MQF level 6 of education in Accounting or Finance
  • Experience in a similar or related role within a financial institution would be considered an asset

Skills Requirements

  • Excellent communication and organisation skills
  • Strong analytical abilities and possess a strong work ethic and a team player mentality
  • A creative and innovative approach to problem solving
  • Be a self-starter, with high attention to detail, plus excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Competent using MS Office, in particular, Excel
  • Capable of creating procedures and streamlining processes
  • Can work under pressure and a self-reliant problem solver
